The Indian beverage, dairy and liquid-food industry continues to grow
The Indian subcontinent is still a dynamic growth market for the beverage, dairy and liquid-food industry. Its development is driven by social transformation and significant economic growth in India, so it is not surprising that forecasts for 2021 are excellent, predicting strong, stable expansion.
Especially the areas of soft drinks and alcoholic beverages, such as beer, wine and spirits, are developing extremely well. The volume of soft drinks is predicted to double by 2021 and an increase of 37 percent is expected for alcoholic beverages.
Milk and dairy products will continue to grow strongly with an increase of up to 26 percent. And India’s edible oils market is also flourishing, with an expected growth rate of around 72 percent over the next five years.
Richard Clemens, Managing Director of the VDMA’s Food Processing and Packaging Machinery Association, reasons:
“India’s booming market opens up new perspectives and opportunities for the coming years. The dti is embracing the right strategy by switching to an annual cycle and using alternating locations. A focus on the individual sites is helpful when we consider the variations in the presence of each sector from one region to the next in India.”
